As our in-house CSO, youll establish and oversee the clinical safety framework that ensures our products meet the highest standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance. This is a pivotal role where youll shape how clinical safety is embedded throughout our product lifecycle, from design to deployment and beyond.</p><p>Youll take ownership of our clinical risk management system, working closely with our Clinical Product Leads who act as delegated CSOs within their domains. This role offers the opportunity to build clinical safety excellence from the ground up in a fast-growing digital health company.</p><p><strong>You’ll be:</strong></p><ul><li>Establishing and maintaining Numan’s Clinical Risk Management System (CRMS) in compliance with DCB 0129 and DCB 0160 standards.</li><li>Owning and updating key safety artefacts, including Hazard Logs, Clinical Safety Case Reports, and Incident Journals.</li><li>Conducting formal risk assessments using methodologies such as SWIFT, HAZID, and FFA.</li><li>Making clinical release decisions based on a comprehensive evidence review and risk evaluation.</li><li>Leading hazard identification workshops and supervising risk control strategies across all digital health products.</li><li>Validating that clinical risk mitigations are effective and appropriate prior to product release.</li><li>Embedding clinical safety frameworks into team workflows from early design through to post-deployment monitoring.</li><li>Updating safety documentation when new risks are identified or when products evolve.</li><li>Reviewing and investigating patient safety incidents related to digital tools and platforms.</li><li>Feeding incident insights back into risk management strategies and product development.</li><li>Ensuring full traceability of all safety decisions, mitigations, and outcomes.</li><li>Escalating high-risk issues to appropriate stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.</li><li>Training and supporting Clinical Product Leads in their delegated CSO responsibilities.</li><li>Promoting a strong clinical safety culture across product, engineering, and operations teams.</li><li>Collaborating with governance, patient safety leads, and external partners.</li><li>Staying up to date with evolving DCB standards and NHS digital safety requirements.</li></ul><p><strong>We’re looking for someone who has:</strong></p><ul><li>An active registration as a healthcare professional.</li><li>Formal training in clinical risk management (e.g. NHS England’s Digital Clinical Safety Practitioner course).</li><li>Proven experience in clinical safety roles within health IT or digital health environments.</li><li>A deep understanding of DCB 0129/0160 standards and NHS digital safety frameworks.</li><li>Strong analytical skills and experience conducting formal clinical risk assessments.</li><li>Experience managing clinical safety documentation and implementing safety systems.</li><li>The ability to lead cross-functional teams and embed clinical safety into everyday practice.</li><li>Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks for digital health products.</li><li>A familiarity with incident investigation and root cause analysis methods.</li><li>Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical and non-technical teams.</li><li>Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and projects.</li></ul><p><strong>It’s a bonus if you have:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in digital therapeutics, telemedicine, or direct-to-consumer healthcare.</li><li>Understanding of international digital health regulations (e.g. FDA, CE marking).</li><li>Familiarity with agile product development and DevOps practices.</li><li>Experience working with health data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and SNOMED CT.</li><li>Advanced qualifications in patient safety, health informatics, or quality improvement.</li><li>Familiarity with medical device regulations and their application in software.</li></ul><p> - Share options.</p><p> - Enhanced maternity and parental leave.</p><p> - Nursery benefit provided by YellowNest.</p><p> - Flexible working options.</p><p> - Personal training and development budget.</p><p>️ - Free office snacks.</p><p> - Cycle to work scheme.</p><p> - Season ticket loan.</p><p>% - Discount on Numan products for your friends and family.</p><p> - An additional 2 weeks off once you reach your 5th anniversary with Numan.</p><p><strong>Diversity at Numan</strong></p><p>At Numan, people are at the heart of who we are.
