The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal operational performance. Duties
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
* Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical experience, then carry out repairs efficiently.
* Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair or replace components.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.
* Assist with the repair and maintenance of auxiliary equipment such as excavators and forklifts.
* Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
* Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations.
* Ensure work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
Requirements
* Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance including HGVs
* Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and assembly techniques.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on diagnostics and equipment repair.
* Good organisational skills with attention to detail for record keeping and compliance documentation.
* Customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical fields are desirable but not essential.
