School Business Manager – Level 3 Permanent
Hours: 42 hours per week / 52 weeks per year
Monday – Friday - 8 – 5pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch
Pay scale: LG band 10 points 31 – 34, £53,556 - £57,062 (pay award pending) plus contribution to the Local Government Pension Scheme
Responsible to: Headteacher
Key relationships: Senior Leadership Team, Admin staff, Premises Officers and Trust finance team.

Taylor Road Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional School Business Manager to join our dedicated leadership team and play a pivotal role in the continued development of our vibrant and inclusive school community. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking professional to lead and manage the strategic and operational functions of the school, ensuring that our children and staff have the very best environment in which to thrive.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, senior leaders and the Trust to provide strategic leadership across:
• Human resources and safer recruitment
• Estates, facilities and premises management
• Health & safety, compliance and risk management
• Administration and operational systems
• Finance and budget management
• GDPR and Data Protection Officer responsibilities
• Strategic planning and school improvement
You will be instrumental in ensuring that operational systems support high-quality teaching, learning and safeguarding across the school.
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
•Has financial and operational management experience
•Understands HR processes, compliance and operational management
•Is highly organised, proactive and solution-focused
•Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Understands the importance of safeguarding and compliance
•Can work strategically whilst managing day-to-day operational priorities
•Is committed to inclusion, teamwork and continuous improvement
•Has the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment
•Has successful leadership or management experience, ideally in education or a similar complex environment
•Can lead teams positively and inspire high standards
•Understands GDPR and data protection responsibilities (or is willing to develop expertise)
•Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations for all pupils
•A flexible and responsive approach to change within a high-pressure environment
The Successful Candidate
While we have a preference for candidates with experience in a primary school environment or existing SBMs, we also welcome applications from highly organised professionals with proven management experience in a business environment.
