This role is part of the national Flood Risk Evidence Modelling Service within the Digital Data Evidence (DDE) team. The team supports the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) programmes, providing evidence for flood management and strategic decision‑making, supporting the ambitions of EA2030.
Responsibilities
* Advise flood management teams on hydraulic and hydrological modelling, providing expert technical input and professional support.
* Communicate flood risk analyses and uncertainty to internal and external stakeholders.
* Advise on appropriate tools and techniques for hydraulic and hydrological modelling approaches.
* Use technical skills to support incident response.
* Foster innovation and continuous improvement, and promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing.
* Mentor and coach team members, prioritising professional development.
Experience & Skills Required
* Expert knowledge in flood modelling and hydrology.
* Experience with flood modelling software such as Flood Estimation, Guidelines, Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, InfoWorks ICM.
* Experience in data processing, management and GIS software packages.
* Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex issues to stakeholders.
* Mentoring and coaching skills with a commitment to continuous development.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team to make decisions and solve problems.
