Core Responsibilities
1. Instructional Excellence: Teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), fostering a classroom environment of high-level academic discourse.
2. Textual Analysis: Guiding students to deconstruct complex texts, identifying the nuances of form, structure, and language, and understanding how writers respond to their historical and social contexts.
3. Creative & Transactional Writing: Developing students' ability to write with flair and precision, whether they are crafting original narratives or persuasive rhetorical pieces.
4. Diagnostic Feedback: Utilizing regular assessment to identify areas for growth, providing the detailed feedback necessary for students to master the sophisticated essay-writing skills required for GCSE success.
5. Oracy & Debate: Leading classroom discussions that build students' confidence in public speaking and their ability to challenge ideas respectfully and logically.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a practitioner who is as passionate about the mechanics of grammar as they are about the power of a metaphor. Requirements include:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English Literature, Language, or a related discipline.
* Subject Passion: A deep-seated love for reading and the ability to share that enthusiasm with students of all backgrounds and abilities.
