We are looking for an Assessment Officer to join us at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) to work directly with a range of stakeholders to deliver frontline regulation.
Responsibilities
* Record and analyse regulatory intelligence received from different sources.
* Assess and respond to concerns raised with the regulator about registered providers, and collaborate with engagement teams to ensure appropriate escalation of cases.
* Manage a broad and varied caseload of referrals in line with service standards and a proportionate, risk‑based approach.
* Provide clear, transparent communication to tenants, providers, elected representatives and other statutory bodies such as the Housing Ombudsman.
* Own and develop projects alongside casework to continually improve the assessment team’s work.
* Ensure all decisions are communicated to stakeholders in a clear and transparent way.
* Actively contribute to the effective regulation of registered providers by delivering first‑class regulatory intelligence.
Qualifications
* Track record of managing relationships at senior levels and handling complex, contentious issues with stakeholders tactfully.
* Good understanding of the strategy and operations of registered providers, especially in governance, risk management, landlord services and tenant engagement.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate evidence and exercise sound professional judgement to reach robust, evidence‑based conclusions.
* Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship available.
* Must undergo a criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard checks for work with government assets.

* Salary £53,160 per annum, with a competitive base within the civil service pay band.
* Contribution of £15,400 to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

Location
This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices. The Manchester and Bristol offices will remain within the city centre during 2025/26. The role involves some travel across England between offices and onsite visits to social housing providers.
