St Mary's Prep, are seeking a passionate and dedicated KS1 Teacher to join our thriving independent prep school community. The successful candidate will deliver effective, high-quality classroom teaching that inspires and supports every child to reach their full potential. With a strong focus on excellence in teaching and learning, the post holder will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, alongside robust monitoring, assessment, and target setting to ensure outstanding pupil progress.

Job Description:
Teaching & Learning:
* To ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time.
* Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that challenge and support pupils of all abilities.
* Use effective teaching strategies and classroom management to maximise learning time.
* Adapt teaching to meet the needs, aptitudes, and prior attainment of pupils.
* Contribute to curriculum planning, educational visits, and special projects.
* Support pupils through targeted interventions and academic clinics.
Assessment & Progress:
* Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform planning.
* Analyse pupil data to identify underachievement and implement support strategies.
* Provide regular, constructive feedback and encourage pupil reflection.
* Maintain accurate records, following the School's reporting policies, and contribute to meaningful reporting.
* Support the Head of Department/Senior Leadership Team in meeting whole school priorities and in realising the school's vision.
Curriculum Knowledge:
* Demonstrate secure subject knowledge and keep up to date with curriculum developments.
* Promote high standards of literacy, articulacy, and use of standard English.
Pastoral Care:
* Act as a form tutor to an assigned group of pupils, supporting their wellbeing and development.
* Accurately register pupils, accompany them to assemblies, encourage their full attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of school life.
* Promote positive behaviour and a respectful school culture.
* Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic and pastoral matters.
* Encourage pupils to take a responsibility and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.
Professional Duties:
* Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental and whole-school initiatives.
* Participate in staff meetings, INSET, parents' evenings, sports days, open days and school events and meetings as deemed necessary by the Headteacher.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and share best practice.
* Support the school's ethos, values, and extra-curricular programme.
* Communicate and consult effectively with the parents of all pupils, and liaise effectively with them to offer opportunities for them to engage in their child's learning at home.

Essential qualifications:
* Qualified Teacher Status
* Graduate with good honours degree
Desirable qualifications:
* Further professional study
Essential skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Excellent communication skills (including written, oral and presentation skills).
* Enthusiasm for the work of a department.
* Well organised, creative and innovative.
* Ability to work independently and also in a team.
