Senior Software Engineer – DevOps/SRE Focus
Join Lloyds Banking Group as a Senior Software Engineer focused on DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Work with the Digital Channel Servicing Lab, supporting the core of the Scottish Widows digital estate, and improve the speed and reliability of change across engineering teams while ensuring services are stable, scalable and secure for customers.
What you’ll do
* Investigate, fix and remediate service issues to improve performance and reliability.
* Lead post‑incident reviews and drive problem resolution to prevent recurrence.
* Identify and eliminate engineering toil through automation and continuous improvement.
* Create proactive monitoring and observability solutions to surface issues before customers experience them.
* Define and measure Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
* Lead initiatives within the team and mentor junior colleagues.
What you’ll need
* Strong knowledge of SRE principles (SLI, SLO, SLA) and practical implementation.
* Ability to design, deploy, manage and optimise cloud environments; experienced with orchestration tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness, etc.
* Solid DevOps skills, including Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, Jenkins, Harness, Azure DevOps, etc.).
* Experience with Kubernetes and related tooling.
* Proficiency in GCP (or another public cloud such as Azure or AWS) and cloud security & networking.
* Experience with cloud monitoring tools, preferably Dynatrace.
* History of identifying toil and building automated solutions.
Nice to have
* Experience in banking and finance.
* Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and Agile practices.
* Cloud certifications (GCP, Azure, AWS).
