Place of Safety worker/Health Care Assistant
The role of theNursing Assistant within the Place of Safety will be an autonomous role supporting the co-ordination of Section 136/135 admissionsto the Children and Young Persons Place of Safety Suite (CYP POS) andaccompanying the detained person whilst awaiting outcome of assessment. When not required to work in the CPY POSsuite, the post holder will be required to work within Plym Bridge in patientUnit. This may be as part of a teamnursing complex children and young people with increased levels ofobservations. This may involve contact with relatives, carers and otheragencies. They will carry outinterventions as part of the care plans and record information using the CPAprocess.
The post holder will be directed to undertaketasks once adequate instruction has been given by the trained nurse and bothparties are confident that the task can be fulfilled competently. However, thetrained nurse is required to carry the responsibility for decision making anddirection.
To assist thetrained nurse whilst working on the in-patient wards in delivering physicalsocial and psychological care to the patient / client with mental healthproblems / illness.

All Livewell staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7-day service.

Tosupport community activities either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
Tobe an active member of the provision of care to the patient / client.
Co-facilitategroups with qualified staff.
Toreceive reports on patient care and be able to report back with observationsto the nurse in charge within his / her competency.
Participatein the Plym Bridge response team which responds to any untoward incident andundertake associated training.
Towork within a team providing nursing care tocomplex patients with increased levels of observations.
Tobe willing to participate actively in appropriate in-service trainingprogrammes which the manager believes to be of benefit to theindividual. To assumeco-responsibility for maintaining skills and knowledge levels.
Toassist the registered nurse to carry out, under direction, tasks whichfulfill the patients / clients physical and psychological need, as identifiedin the Care Plan / Assessment.
Escortpatients to other departments or other areas designated by trained staff,which may include the community.
Contributeto the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating care to patients.This to include participation in case review and assessment for admission /discharge process.
Makeappropriate records in the multi-disciplinary patient electronic file, whichwill then be counter signed by a registered nurse.
Toassist the patients personal care and record patients observations inaccordance with the Care Plan.
Recordand manage patients property.
Undertakespecific responsibilities designated by the Unit Manager
Toundertake mandatory and other training as directed by the Organisation.
Toparticipate in continuing role / personal development using the appraisalsystem.
Toreceive line management support and supervision.
Tocontribute to any audit process.
Tobehave in a manner which does not bring the Organisation into disrepute.

Qualifications
* Vocational Qualification III in Healthcare or able to demonstrate the ability, skills and knowledge to work at this level
