RAND Europe has approximately 200 staff across offices in Cambridge, Brussels, and the Hague. Our staff represents 22 nationalities, speaks over 20 languages and covers 31 academic disciplines. Our multi- and inter-disciplinary approaches to research generate unique perspectives and insights for our wide-ranging government, foundation and other NGO clients.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Events Assistant to join our Communications and Partnerships team. You will play a key role in delivering a wide range of events that showcase RAND Europe’s work and foster engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and the wider public.

Responsibilities

* Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of in-person, hybrid, and online events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and stakeholder roundtables.
* Work closely with research teams and Communications and Partnerships leadership to understand event objectives and design formats that achieve them.
* Manage logistics including: venue booking, catering, AV/IT, travel arrangements, delegate registration, accessibility needs, and compliance with health and safety requirements.
* Help to build relationships with venues, caterers, AV providers, and other external partners to ensure value for money and high-quality service.
* Liaise with external partners and speakers, ensuring excellent communication and smooth delivery.
* Support the development of promotional materials in coordination with the Communications team, including event invitations, web pages, and social media content.
* Support effective financial management by processing invoices and monitoring event costs.
* Provide on-the-day support, including event setup, troubleshooting, and stakeholder liaison.
* Collect and analyse post-event feedback to support continuous improvement.
* Maintain a central events calendar and support effective reporting to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

* Proven experience in event planning, coordination, and/or project administration (ideally in an academic, policy, or research-focused environment).
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual event platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
* Experience using CRM systems and email marketing platforms to manage invitations, outreach, and delegate communications.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week in the Cambridge office. The role includes ad‑hoc travel to central London and occasional out‑of‑hours support for events.




Salary

£28,000-£30,000 per anum.
