Assistant Project Manager – Acoustic Engineering

Overview
Penguin Recruitment is excited to be hiring on behalf of our client, a well-established leader in acoustic engineering. With decades of experience, our client designs, manufactures, and installs noise and vibration control equipment across the UK and Europe. As a family-owned business, they value their employees and are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Hertford.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to work on exciting construction projects while gaining valuable experience and support for development.

Responsibilities
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the Project Manager and learn to help deliver projects successfully. Key responsibilities will include:

1. Providing assistance to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet company quality standards.
2. Supporting coordination with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve project goals.
3. Assisting with parts of the design process and helping to meet customer specifications.
4. Helping to monitor project budgets and flagging issues to the Project Manager.
5. Attending meetings and maintaining clear and professional communication with stakeholders.
6. Learning to collaborate with the design team and other departments.
7. Understanding and adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, the following qualifications or skills are desirable:

8. Ideally, some experience (1-2 years) in a similar role or within the construction/engineering industry.
9. Experience in Acoustics is preferable
10. Education in a related field (e.g., an HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in construction or engineering).
11. Willingness to work toward relevant certifications (e.g., SMSTS, IOSH, or CSCS).
12. Basic organizational and time management skills.
13. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn from experienced colleagues.
14. Clear communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

Note: A valid UK driving license and willingness to occasionally travel for work are highly desirable but not essential for candidates willing to grow into this responsibility.

Day-to-Day
Your activities will include:

15. Assisting the Assistant Project Manager in keeping projects on track.
16. Supporting coordination with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
17. Attending site and client meetings alongside senior colleagues to observe and contribute where possible.
18. Helping to monitor budgets and timelines while learning to assess project progress.
19. Collaborating with senior team members to work on basic design and construction tasks.
