Job Description
About Pine Media
Pine Media is a Sheffield-based alternative Internet Service Provider (ISP), specialising in delivering Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connectivity to both businesses and residential customers across urban and rural areas. We are constructing our own fibre optic network, utilising a combination of Openreach ducts and poles, as well as our own infrastructure.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced, competent L2C engineer to join our Service Delivery team (SD). The successful candidate will also collaborate closely with our Fibre Network Delivery team (FND), who are responsible for building fibre to our nodes on telegraph poles and in underground chambers.
We use connectorised block terminals (CBTs), which eliminates the need for splicing at height or in chambers, reducing splicing to the customer premises only inside our wall boxes (CSPs).
Your responsibilities will include:
L2C
- Installing overhead and underground drops from our nearest CBT (C onnectorised Block Terminal) to an external CSP (Customer Splice Point).
- Installing an inside/out cable from CSP to the customer's desired ONT location.
- Splice the drop cable to the inside/out cable inside the CSP.
FND
- On occasion, assisting the Fibre Network Delivery team with deployment of new fibre; inside MDUs and across our outside plant network.
This is a customer-facing role and requires you to embody our brand values during one of the most pivotal stages of the customer order journey.
Attention to detail is a must in all aspects of the L2C role, from accurately submitting reports and managing time effectively, to ensuring the quality of work, maintaining professional etiquette, and installing equipment properly.
Responsibilities
1. Adhere to BT Openreach's labelling requirements at entry and exit points, and take necessary photographs for reports.
2. Manage the tools issued and the vehicle assigned to you as per our vehicle policy.
3. Primarily work on customer installations, but occasionally assist FND with overhead cabling and CBT installation.
4. Complete assigned installations on time and manage day-to-day jobs, flagging any issues.
5. Follow installation procedures, splice fibre, and test at multiple points throughout the installation.
6. Work individually and as part of a team to achieve targets and KPIs.
Our Values
7. Integrity: We foster transparency and honesty with our customers and within our team.
8. Passion: We are enthusiastic about what we do.
9. Development: We invest in each individual's growth.
10. Continual Improvement: We advocate for working smarter, not harder.
