Overview
Are you an Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (ECP) with a Postgraduate Certificate or Graduate Certificate qualification? We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and professional ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) team within the Head and Neck Directorate at University Hospitals Dorset.
The role offers a varied and interesting workload, including assessment and diagnosis of patients within the Same Day Emergency Care unit, supporting the management of ENT inpatients, and delivering outpatient aural care, as well as contributing to wider head and neck clinics.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual who is passionate about delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust, as well as communicate effectively with patients and their families.
The post holder will be supported to develop specialist ENT knowledge and skills, with access to structured training and clinical supervision. This will enable competency sign‑off in a range of extended clinical skills, including epistaxis management, incision and drainage of peritonsillar abscesses, manipulation of nasal fractures, and ear examination and treatment. This role provides excellent opportunities to further develop clinical expertise and build confidence within a supportive team environment.
Special Requirements
To understand the role in more detail please carefully read the job description and person specification documents attached.
Applications will also be considered for potential trainees with relevant ENT experience of 3+ years (post NMC registration) and demonstratable clinical decision‑making skills. Appointment for such candidates would be dependent on experience and a commitment to complete the required training and competency framework within an agreed timeframe. Please also note that if successful for a training post, this would be at a band 6 with progression to band 7 upon completing the ECP PG Cert and Prescribing unit.
