We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced pharmacist to be our inpatient ward pharmacy service lead. This role offers the opportunity to engage and work collaboratively at all levels within the organisation and system. As a member of the pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for oversight and improvement of our pharmacy service to our inpatient wards. You will have a clear vision for pharmacist prescribing on inpatient wards, relevant knowledge and experience, and experience working as a clinical pharmacist in mental health services. As the Lead Pharmacist on the inpatient unit the postholder will establish and develop a clinical model of working as a Non-Medical Prescriber on a designated acute mental health in-patient unit in order to ensure that appropriate medicines optimisation takes place across the whole of the patient pathway on the unit. They are the expert in prescribing and the use of medicines, providing a link between clinical practice and service development by creating new models for delivering patient care ensuring the best experience and outcomes for patients from their medicines whenever and wherever their care is delivered.

Development and implementation of medicines related policies and guidelines and lead on groups/committees for ratification such as Medicines Management and Safety Group, Clinical Board and Drug and Therapeutics Committee. Liaise with key stakeholders on the impact of new medicines and therapeutic options on the local health economy. Membership of the Pharmacy Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

* Lead the inpatient ward pharmacy service and oversee medicines optimisation across the patient pathway on the designated unit.
* Develop and implement a clinical model of practice as a Non-Medical Prescriber on an acute mental health inpatient unit.
* Serve as the expert in prescribing and medicines use, linking clinical practice with service development and new care delivery models.
* Develop and lead medicines-related policies and guidelines; chair or participate in groups/committees such as Medicines Management and Safety Group, Clinical Board and Drug and Therapeutics Committee.
* Engage with key stakeholders regarding the impact of new medicines and therapeutic options on the local health economy.
* Be a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and contribute to strategic direction and improvements.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Dynamic and experienced pharmacist with relevant knowledge and experience in mental health services.
* Ability to provide clinical leadership in inpatient settings and to lead a medicines optimisation agenda.
* Experience working as a clinical pharmacist in mental health services and knowledge of pharmacist prescribing on inpatient wards.
