Hours: Flexible shifts from 8:00 to18:00, Monday–Friday

We are recruiting a Qualified Early Years Assistant on behalf of a welcoming Primary School with a Nursery division in Gateshead. This role offers hands-on experience supporting young children during a crucial stage of their development, helping to shape their confidence, communication and love for learning.
You will be supporting children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including those with additional needs, speech and language differences, and varying levels of development.
You will work as part of a friendly and experienced team, where the focus is on play-based learning, emotional development and building strong foundations for future education.
This role starts in April 2026, working Monday to Friday, term-time only with a range of flexible part-time and full-time shifts available. It’s ideal for Early Years professionals seeking consistent, rewarding experience.

• Supporting children in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
• Assisting with daily routines including play, learning and care activities
• Encouraging communication, language and social interaction
• Supporting children’s emotional regulation and confidence
• Delivering engaging, play-based learning activities
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment
• Supporting children with additional needs where required
• Working closely with staff to implement learning and development plans
• Promoting independence, curiosity and a love of learning
Your role will be key in helping children feel safe, valued and excited about learning.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
• A relevant Early Years qualification (Early Years Educator, Teaching Assistant or other relevant qualifications with children)
• Experience working in a nursery, preschool or Early Years setting
• A genuine passion for supporting young children’s development
• Patience, creativity and a nurturing approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• An understanding of child development and early learning
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Experience with SEND/SEMH (desired)
