Early Years Educator Apprentice - Little Toes, Mansfield
Location: 11 Sutton Road, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 5EX
Hours and pay: £7.55 per hour, 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm.
Employer: Little Toes Day Nurseries — a family-run business providing childcare in a home-from-home setting. The Mansfield nursery opened in 2024 and serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years, focusing on learning through play and child-led activity.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to a programme of activities tailored to each child’s needs and interests.
* Record children’s learning and development journeys and share these with parents, carers, and other key adults.
* Liaise with and support parents, carers, and other family members.
* Attend activities outside of standard hours when required (e.g., staff meetings, training, events).
* Be flexible and assist with tasks as needed, including domestic duties (e.g., preparing meals, cleaning toys).
* Help create a warm, friendly environment aligned with the nursery ethos.
* Promote EYFS effectively and follow relevant policies and procedures.
* Support the smooth running of the Nursery.
* Read, understand, and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to this role.
* Complete a minimum of 6 hours per week of apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and training) within your role.
Apprenticeship details
Progress toward the Early Years Educator Level 3 Qualification. You will attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via Teams; no classroom or college attendance). Modules include risk management, key person and attachment, learning and development, and more.
You will receive at least 3 hours per week to complete apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace during working hours.
Skills and qualifications
* Minimum GCSE grade 4/C in Maths and English (or equivalent).
* UK residency: must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
* Level 2 Childcare and/or equivalent.
* Good communication and attention to detail.
* Patience and problem-solving skills.
What happens next
