Phoenix Secure Transport is a trusted, community-focused provider of secure and non-secure transport services. We work with local authorities, schools, and care organisations to deliver safe, reliable, and compassionate journeys for vulnerable children and young people.
We are currently expanding our Home-to-School SEND Transport Team in Northampton and are seeking caring, responsible Passenger Assistants to join us on a contract basis.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils as they get on and off vehicles safely.
* Assist children with special educational needs, disabilities, or mobility challenges.
* Provide reassurance and empathy, including to children who may be distressed or anxious.
* Use communication aids or agreed strategies to support pupils where required.
* Escalate safeguarding or safety concerns in line with company protocols.
* Work closely with drivers to ensure journeys are safe, well-managed, and punctual.
* Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
* Follow health & safety guidance, including incident and risk reporting.
Requirements (Essential)
* Enhanced DBS check (current and valid).
* PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) certification.
* First Aid training (in date).
* Safeguarding training (recent).
* Good communication skills in English.
* A caring, reliable, and responsible attitude.
Requirements (Preferred):
* Experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
* Previous experience in school or community transport.
* TAS badge (if applicable).
Working Conditions
* Two shifts per day, Monday–Friday (term-time):
* Morning: from 7:00 am
* Afternoon: from 2:30 pm
* Based in Northampton, travel within the region.
* Lone working with a driver.
* PST-issued uniform (polo/sweater will be provided).
Important
This is a self-employed contractor role. Contractors are responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions. Proof of training and valid certifications will be required before engagement.
