About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in catering and hospitality. As a Modern Apprentice Commis Chef, you’ll work alongside experienced kitchen staff to prepare and serve meals, maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, and contribute to the smooth running of our busy kitchen. You’ll receive on-the-job training and support to help you work towards a recognised catering qualification.
This is a 1-year fixed term position offered through our Modern Apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain valuable experience and develop the skills needed for a future career in the catering industry. Upon successful completion of the qualification, there may be an opportunity to secure a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Assist in food preparation and service for patients, staff, and visitors
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in your work area
* Follow health and safety and food safety regulations
* Work as part of a team and take initiative when required
* Participate in training and team meetings
* Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly
About You
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn. You’ll be a team player with good communication skills and a genuine interest in food and hospitality.
This role could be perfect for you if you:
* Have a willingness to work towards a recognised catering qualification
* Can work on your own initiative and as part of a team
* Communicate well and enjoy working with others
* Have an interest in food preparation and hospitality
* Are eligible for the Modern Apprenticeship programme
It’s not essential but it would be great if you have:
* Previous experience in a kitchen or customer service role
* Awareness of food hygiene and safety practices
* Basic IT skills
* National 4 or 5 in English and Maths (or equivalent)
