Sue Ross Legal are working on behalf of our client, a trusted provider of legal aid and community support services, to recruit a dedicated Housing & Debt Supervisor to lead a committed team delivering vital legal support to vulnerable individuals facing housing and debt issues. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality advice services across Derby City, South Derbyshire, and Tamworth, while helping shape the future of our housing and debt provision under Legal Aid contracts. Key Responsibilities for the Housing & Debt Supervisor role: * Supervise the delivery of Legal Aid Standard Contract 2024 and Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service (HLPAS) * Lead and support a team of caseworkers and an administrator * Provide legal advice and representation in housing and related debt matters * Represent clients in County Court (including housing possession duty work) * Monitor performance, maintain compliance, and support service development * Report directly to the Legal Services Manager Candidate Requirements for the Housing & Debt Supervisor role: Legal Aid Supervisor Standard is essential including: * Legal Aid Supervisor status or willingness to undertake the supervisor course * 350 hours of relevant housing/debt casework for at least 3 years * Proven experience managing housing/debt caseloads and meeting targets * Supervisory experience or ability to effectively lead and develop others * Experience representing clients in County Court housing matters * Strong communication and case management skills * Ability to manage emergencies and support clients in distress * Commitment to professional development and high-quality client car Desirable: * Experience working within a Legal Aid Contract framework * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes What’s on Offer for the Housing & Debt Supervisor role: * 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) * Up to 5% employer pension contribution * 9-month probation period with full training and support * Opportunities for professional development and CPD * Collaborative working environment with a values-driven team This is an outstanding organisation to work with and the successful candidate will enjoy being part of a dynamic and forward thinking team culture.
