The DigIT team is a newly formed team within Rolls Royce SMR. The business is going to grow rapidly across multiple geographies, and the function will have to expand to meet the demands of this exciting industry. We have an exciting mandate to deliver a greenfield technology capability for the business. Digital is an integral part of our journey, and we have an opportunity to implement leading-edge technology that will make a difference to our business. The function is on a journey to mature and become a trusted partner to the business, delivering best-in-class technology solutions.


Role Purpose

As Rolls Royce SMR grows and wins new customers and contracts, there is a need to expand the supporting capabilities. A key aspect is leveraging Digital Technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness and to deliver a digitally enabled Power station.

The technology function (DigIT) is in its infancy, with significant investment planned to support the business’s growth.

The Head of Business Management will lead and develop the capabilities that underpin effective delivery, organizing and maturing the function. This role oversees the PMO, IT performance reporting, technology financial planning, and IT Commercial and Procurement partnerships. The role partners closely with Finance, Commercial, and Procurement to ensure technology investments deliver value, are well-governed, and align with strategic priorities. It will also drive the people strategy in conjunction with the CDIO. This position is key in defining and executing the overall IT operational strategy.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead the Business Management function, including PMO, IT and Commercial procurement interface, financial planning, communications, and performance reporting
* Establish and manage a high-performing PMO to oversee project governance, reporting, and portfolio delivery assurance
* Develop and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to aid decision-making and operational excellence
* Partner with Finance to manage IT budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls
* Work with Procurement and Commercial teams to align vendor management and sourcing strategies, focusing on cost optimization
* Develop and implement the strategic operating model and roadmap for the function
* Ensure alignment between DigIT’s strategic objectives and business outcomes through effective reporting and value measurement
* Promote process improvement, governance, and operational maturity across the function
* Support executive reporting on DigIT performance, investment cases, and benefits realization
* Oversee the function’s Risk Management processes and controls
* Support internal and external audit requirements and processes
* Develop and organize governance meetings/forums for the function
* Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement with leadership
* Oversee development and management of quality management systems
* Deliver projects to mature the function as directed by the CDIO


What We Are Looking For

* Proven experience leading IT operations or PMO functions in a complex, enterprise environment
* Strong background in IT financial planning, reporting, and vendor management
* Experience embedding risk management in a low-maturity environment
* Experience developing and executing strategic functions aligned with corporate goals
* Familiarity with project and portfolio management methodologies (e.g., MSP, PRINCE2, Agile)
* Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, especially in Finance, Procurement, and Commercial teams


Beneficial Experience, Training, or Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred
* Recognized Project/Programme Management qualification

Pay and Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary from £90,000+ depending on experience.

* Bonus: Short Term Incentive (performance-based), target opportunity 20%
* Benefits Allowance: £8,500 for creating a bespoke package
* Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
* Holidays: 28 days plus public holidays, with options to buy or sell up to 4 days
* Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover
* Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay
* One-off payment of £250 for new starters for home office equipment
