With this in mind, they are now looking for a Group Financial Controllerto join them and help the group to set up processes and procedures to transition the business in readiness for future investments.
Job Overview:
We are looking for anexperienced drivenGroup Financial Controller to be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organisation at a group level. This key role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, effective management of financial risks, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Group Financial Controller will lead the finance team, collaborate with senior leadership, and drive financial performance and strategy across the entire business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
o Lead the preparation of the group’s consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards.
o Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
o Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives to include MI.
2. Internal Controls and Compliance:
o Ensure the development and maintenance of a robust internal control framework across the group.
o Ensure compliance with UK tax laws, VAT regulations, and other statutory financial reporting requirements.
o Adherence to Corporate Governance.
o Coordinate external audits, liaising with auditors to ensure timely completion and compliance with financial regulations.
3. Leadership and Team Management:
o Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, setting clear goals and providing guidance for their personal and professional growth.
o Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of the finance team.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function.
4. Financial Strategy and Business Partnering:
o Collaborate with senior management and department heads to provide financial insights and strategic advice to support business decisions.
o Contribute to financial planning and analysis, identifying opportunities for cost control, efficiency improvements, and revenue growth.
o Provide financial support for business expansions, mergers, acquisitions, and other significant corporate transactions.
5. Cash Flow and Treasury Management:
o Oversee cash flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity for business operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
o Ensure effective treasury operations, including cash forecasting, debt management, and banking relationships.
6. Systems and Process Improvement:
o Review and implement financial systems, processes to include MI, and technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timelines.
o There is a strong desire to utilise AI and streamline the processes within the accounting function.
o Support the integration of new financial systems or technologies across the group.
7. Risk Management:
o Identify and mitigate financial risks to the business, including market, credit, and operational risks.
o Ensure appropriate insurance coverage and risk management strategies are in place to safeguard the organization’s assets.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* ACA/ACCAqualified accountant.
* Strong experience in financial control, financial reporting, and managing a finance function at a senior level.
* Experience working in Practice is advantageous
* Experience with group consolidations, IFRS/UK GAAP, and statutory accounting.
* Proven leadership skills and experience managing and developing teams.
* Strong business acumen, with the ability to analyse complex financial data and communicate findings to senior leadership.
* Experience with financial systems preferably withXeroand Oracle software.
* Knowledge of tax laws, VAT, and other regulatory requirements in the UK.
* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable:
* Understanding of AI solutions for a modern accounting environment.
* Experience within a multinational or multi-entity business environment.
* Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modelling.
* Familiarity with IFRS and international accounting standards.
