Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Operative to join our M8 account.
Our M8 account has been working in partnership with Scottish Roads since 2014. We are responsible for completing and upgrading motorway networks and trunk roads in central Scotland.
To date, we have completed 30 kilometres of motorway network between Glasgow and Edinburgh, along with 12 kilometres of new build road and 16 kilometres of network upgrades. These works have helped save up to 18 minutes on journeys between the two cities during peak times.
Our goal is to continue maintaining motorway networks and trunk roads through 2047, creating safe, well-functioning spaces that minimize disruption, keep people moving, and support thriving communities.
Highway Maintenance Operatives play a vital role in installing temporary traffic management and performing all aspects of highway maintenance works.
The standard hours of work are Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week, from 08:30 to 16:30.

You will be responsible for:
* Undertaking highway maintenance activities, including routine and cyclic maintenance, minor civils works, and litter picking.
* Driving and operating vehicles and plant, ensuring vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning are completed.
* Winter maintenance, including emergency call-outs and standby duties.
* Prioritizing safety for yourself and your team.
* Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and necessary paperwork.

We want to hear from you if you are:
* A strong communicator and problem solver.
Ideally, you will have a Class 2 HGV Licence and a CPC card, with experience in Street works.
It is desirable to have Civils or Trade experience, but this is not essential as we will provide training to bring you up to speed.
