Financial Controller - 6m FTC, Chelmsford
Our client, a highly respected financial services organisation (Mortgage & Savings), is recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller due to a restructure. This role is for a 6-month period, with the possibility of extension, and requires immediate availability. The position is based in Nottinghamshire with a hybrid working model, requiring travel to the Head Office on Mondays and Tuesdays, with work from home from Wednesday to Friday. A handover period will be provided.
The Financial Controller will manage a team of 4 (including 2 direct reports) and oversee financial operations such as treasury back office, accounts payable, payments, and reconciliations. Key responsibilities include evaluating and managing financial risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, preparing financial statements, coordinating audits, and managing tax matters supported by third parties.
Responsibilities:
* Manage month and year-end reporting processes, liaising with auditors.
* Control of the ALMIS system and treasury back office.
* Understand and sign off regulatory returns in the absence of the FD.
* Prepare financial reports for the Board and committees.
* Produce ICAAP and Recovery Plan within the 6-month period if required.
* Oversee FRS 102 reporting models, bad debt provisions, and hedge accounting.
* Ensure compliance with FRS 102 changes, such as lease accounting.
Requirements:
* Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
* Experience within a PRA-regulated financial services business, preferably a mortgage lender.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
* Knowledge of PRA regulations, including ICAAP & ILAAP.
* Understanding of ALMIS treasury system.
* Proficiency in Excel and management information skills.
