Were offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Transport & Development Planner to join our Highways and Transportation Division. Through our rotational graduate programme, youll gain hands-on experience across multiple teams, contributing to high-profile projects that directly influence the lives of Kents residents, communities and businesses.
What Youll Be Doing
1. Help to shape developments, plans and strategies to deliver new highways and transport infrastructure and services across Kent.
2. Undertake projects to review and improve policies and processes in transport and development planning in collaboration with stakeholders.
3. Assess planning applications for new developments and provide recommendations to local planning authorities.
4. Rotate across key service areas, gaining a view of how transport planning supports the Councils strategic goals.
5. Represent the Highway Authority, building your confidence and communication skills in a professional setting.
6. Develop your expertise through structured project work, while working toward the Associate Project Manager apprenticeship.
About You
7. Were looking for ambitious, proactive graduates who are ready to lead and learn. Youll need:
8. A 2:2 Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Environment, Geography or a related discipline. Other degrees will be considered according to their relevance.
9. GCSE Grade A-C (4-9 or equivalent) in English language
10. GCSE Grade A-C (4-9 or equivalent) in Mathematics.
11. A proven ability to lead seminars, projects, or group discussions in an academic or work setting.
12. Strong communication skillsboth written and verbalwith the ability to engage diverse audiences.
13. The ability to work collaboratively in teams and managing deadlines without compromising quality.
14. A solid understanding of local government, transport policy, and the unique transport challenges facing Kent.
15. Strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in tools like MS Excel, Word, and Project.
16. A passion for public service and a desire to make a difference in your community.
17. Commitment to study for an Associate Project Manager apprenticeship (Level 4).
