Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and determined teacher to ensure learners are engaged in Essential Skills and well prepared for assessment, using differentiated tasks and specialised strategies to motivate and sustain interest, and to develop learners’ confidence and self‑esteem.

Exceptional communication and organisational skills are required, along with the ability to prioritise and manage a challenging workload.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake the teaching and assessment of Essential Skills qualifications (Application of Number and Communication)
* Liaise with the Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills to ensure Quality Assurance Internal Verification procedures are undertaken in an appropriate and timely manner
* Ensure that all successfully completed Essential Skills Qualifications are claimed for in a timely manner
* Report to the Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills regarding progress and completion
Essential Criteria
* Degree or equivalent qualification
* Teaching qualification (or ability to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of the date of employment)
* GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
* Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
* Good literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Excellent punctuality and flexibility
Desirable Criteria
* Relevant teaching experience
* Understanding of post‑16 education issues
* Track record of high levels of learner attainment
* Awareness of key performance indicators
* Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
* Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
* Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
Welsh Language Requirements
* Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) – Level 0/1
* Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) – Level 0/1
