Senior Data Analyst - Python, SQL, Trading
Leading investment bank based in Belfast is seeking a Senior Data Analyst with expertise in Python, SQL, and trading data analysis.
Position Details:
* Inside IR35 - Minimum 3 days a week on-site in Belfast
Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with SQL and Python, sourcing data, and understanding trades, positions, and basic product knowledge across asset classes such as Rates, Equities, FX, and Commodities. Experience in Market Risk and Finance is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Support program initiatives to drive execution of Price Risk Data regulatory requirements and business adoption
* Enhance controls related to trade population completeness and data quality validations
* Define 1LoD controls to improve data quality and monitoring
* Document business requirements for implementing preventative and detective controls
* Assess control gaps and recommend improvements
* Understand data quality issues, data flows, and controls to ensure addressed in target solutions
* Support strategy execution for Price Risk control frameworks, including analysis, testing, and implementation
* Oversee trade and CDE data controls, including quality metrics
* Drive standardized control mechanisms and align with infrastructure initiatives
* Lead or participate in stakeholder working groups and sprints
* Identify and escalate risks and issues promptly
* Create project updates and artifacts for various forums
* Support UAT, end-to-end testing, and production testing
* Ensure effective socialization of target state tools, processes, and controls
Key Skills:
* 10+ years' experience as a Business Analyst with focus on trade and CDE data controls, analysis, documentation, and UAT
* Strong understanding of data structures and financial products
* Experience designing and monitoring controls in trading environments
* Expertise in business analysis, change management, and project tools like JIRA and MS Project
* Controls mindset with risk mitigation and communication skills
* Financial industry experience, especially within 1LoD/2LoD
* Self-starter with ability to work independently
* Excellent communication skills for engaging senior stakeholders
* Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity in a dynamic environment
* Experience driving organizational change and applying Agile principles
Preferred Skills:
* Experience in Risk functions, understanding credit and market risk
* Proficiency with PowerPoint for presentations
* Bachelor's or Master's degree; certifications like PMP or ISEB are advantageous
