We are seeking an experienced Head of Childrens Commissioning to join the dedicated team at Haringey Council, driving innovation and excellence in commissioning practices.
Role Purpose:
As the Head of Childrens Commissioning, you will lead, develop, and embed a robust commissioning framework across the Childrens Directorate. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that commissioned services are needs-led, evidence-based, and provide the best value. You will play a crucial role in meeting strategic and statutory responsibilities while fostering innovation to keep services at the forefront of commissioning practices.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead and develop strategic approaches to commissioning services, ensuring sufficiency requirements are met.
Design and embed a flexible commissioning framework that aligns with frontline service needs.
Communicate a compelling vision for the future, based on needs assessment and evidence-based intelligence.
Take lead responsibility for strategic commissioning activities, aligning with corporate plans and priorities.
Engage with stakeholders to develop outcomes that positively impact children and families.
Manage a service area, providing support, supervision, and access to professional development opportunities.
Develop and implement service standards, ensuring clear responsibilities and accountability.
Ensure the availability of high-quality financial information for monitoring and reporting purposes.
Collaborate with other council services to inform sufficiency and resource allocation.
Manage processes for timely re-procurement of contracts in liaison with operational and legal services.
Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
Management qualification or evidence of leadership/management development.
Experience working with Local Authority systems and processes.
Successful track record in developing high-performing teams/services.
Knowledge of commissioning legislation, policy, and principles.
Strong budgetary and financial management skills.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Experience in managing change and supporting staff through transitions.
