Job Opportunity: Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering Assistant

Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting for a Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering Assistant to join the team for a 7-week temporary contract. Role: Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering Assistant
Location: Caerphilly
Contract Duration: 22/08/2025 – 10/10/2025
Hours: 6 hours per week (minimum 3 hours Saturday, 3 hours Sunday; additional hours often available)
Rate: PAYE: £12.65 per hour | Umbrella: £15.87 per hour
Employment Type: Temporary
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparing and selling food and beverages
* Welcome visitors, handle enquiries, and deliver impeccable customer service.
* Provide comprehensive catering and retail services, including handling cash and card transactions.
* Maintain accurate records for food safety (e.g., temperature logs) and ensure proper handling/storage of food.
* Perform cleaning duties to maintain the facility, including safe use and upkeep of catering equipment.
* Assist in opening/closing the venue and accessing the building as needed (key access, not key holder).
* Support colleagues with work familiarisation and collaborate with council and partner organisations.
* Work flexibly across Caerphilly’s visitor attractions if required, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Requirements:
* Essential:
o Level 2 Food Safety awareness
o Eligibility to work in the UK.
o Experience in a customer-focused environment.
o Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
o Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
o Professional and polite approach to diverse customers.
o Willingness to work across Caerphilly’s visitor attractions and during non-standard hours (evenings, weekends, bank holidays).
o Comfortable with physical tasks (standing for long periods, lifting, carrying) and using hazardous cleaning substances safely.
o Commitment to wearing supplied uniform and PPE.
* Desirable:
o Knowledge of Caerphilly’s tourism offerings and health and safety practices.
o Experience in hospitality and catering roles.
o Welsh language skills.
