We are seeking a proactive, organised, and creative Kitchen Manager to lead our catering operation at a busy and inclusive rugby club. This self-employed role involves managing all aspects of the kitchen service — from menu planning and shopping to food preparation, service, and clean-up — for junior match days and club events. The successful candidate will serve a diverse range of customers, from young junior players to adult spectators.
Key Responsibilities
· Menu planning and adaptation for varying age groups and events
· Weekly stock purchasing and budget management
· Food preparation and cooking for match days and events
· Serving hot and cold snacks and drinks to players and spectators
· Supervising and delegating tasks to volunteers
· Cash handling and basic reporting
· Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene and safety regulations
· Full clean-down of kitchen and equipment after service
Typical Weekly Schedule
Thursday (2–3 hrs):
* Plan weekend menu
* Purchase stock and supplies from cash and carry or relevant stores
* Deliver and store stock at the club
Sunday (Weekly – Junior & Girls Game Day):
* Prepare meals for approx. 80–100 junior players throughout the day
* Open kitchen for general food/snack sales from 8:30 AM
* Ensure full clean-down of kitchen and equipment at end of service
Requirements:
Essential:
· Access to own transport (for stock purchasing and transport to/from club)
· Willingness to undergo DBS check (arranged by club)
· Strong work ethic and reliability
· Ability to cook a variety of dishes for different audiences
· Excellent time management and punctuality
· Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
Desirable:
· Food Hygiene Certification (can be arranged on employment if not currently held)
· Clean Driving license

The ideal candidate will bring energy, initiative, and fresh ideas to the club's catering operations. You'll be confident in the kitchen, comfortable working independently, and able to motivate and guide volunteer helpers. A flair for adapting menus and offering appealing food options for both players and spectators is essential.
