Position Description

As Assistant Kitchen Manager you will be responsible for directing kitchen staff to meet daily goals and tasks, while maximizing guest satisfaction and maintaining a positive work environment.


Responsibilities

* Works cooperatively with Kitchen Manager to keep budget expenses within limits; identifies and communicates ways to improve and streamline operations.
* Keeps General Manager/Kitchen Manager informed of problems and proposes alternative solutions.
* Maintains a clean and safe facility.
* Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce foodborne illness risk factors.
* Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
* Ensures clear communication with vendors supplying restaurant equipment and supplies.
* Performs walk-throughs and temperature checks in the kitchen.
* Assists in ordering food, produce, liquor, and restaurant supplies.
* Assists in receiving deliveries and checks paperwork to ensure receipt of items; directs staff for stocking items.
* Performs and can assist in all functions of kitchen operations.


Qualifications

* Basic skills such as sanitation, safety, and customer service taught through in-house training.
* Must be able to communicate clearly.


Physical Requirements / Work Conditions

* High level of mobility and flexibility.
* Ability to work irregular hours under high stress during peak times.
* Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
* High level of coordination; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
* Ability to fit through openings up to 30 inches wide.
* Frequent reaching, bending, pushing and pulling; exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors.
* Continual standing and walking.
