Development Manager
South East / London (Hybrid)
£60-70k + Car Allowance
We are looking for an experienced Development Manager to join a ambitious and forward thinking housing organisation delivering high-quality, mixed-tenure homes.
As a Development Manager, you will take ownership of projects from contract start through to handover, ensuring homes are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work across a diverse development pipeline, managing mixed-tenure schemes including affordable rent, shared ownership, and open market sale.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the delivery of residential development projects from inception to completion
* Ensure all homes meet regulatory, statutory, and funding requirements
* Oversee quality through inspections, snagging, and handover processes
* Monitor programme performance, budgets, and cashflow forecasting
* Coordinate and challenge contractors, consultants, and professional teams to achieve best value and quality
* Work collaboratively with internal teams including Sales, Marketing and Asset Management
* Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting
* Engage with external stakeholders including local authorities, funding bodies, and regulatory agencies
About You
You will be a proactive and detail-focused Development Manager with experience delivering residential development schemes.
Essential skills and experience:
* Experience in post-contract delivery of housing developments or regeneration projects
* Strong understanding of construction, contract administration, and building regulations
* Proven ability in programme management, budgeting, and cashflow forecasting
* Experience of JCT contracts and understanding of Development Agreements
* Experience managing contractor performance and risk
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable:
* Working towards or holding a professional qualification (e.g. RICS, CIOB or equivalent)
* Knowledge of affordable housing funding and regulatory frameworks
* Experience with mixed-tenure developments
* GLA and Homes England experience
