Overview
Specialty Doctor - Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit role at Florin Chilian. Available from February 2026 for the new Female PICU Ward (opening in April 2026) based at Littlestone Lodge, Dartford, Kent, DA2 6PB. The post will be based on the inpatient female PICU ward of Littlestone Lodge, a 10 bedded unit located next to Littlebrook Hospital. The female PICU Ward will work closely with the male PICU ward to share learning, governance and best practices. The post holder will work with a Consultant Psychiatrist and the MDT to deliver quality care. The post holder will have no community responsibility except for Mental Health Assessments out of hours and will work collaboratively with community mental health teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychiatric care to patients admitted to the Female PICU ward
* Provide medical input to the Multidisciplinary Team on the ward
* Support the RC in attending the Acute Pathway Meetings; ensure new admissions are assessed by a senior doctor with management plans within 24 hours of admission; hold medical responsibility for inpatients on wards for which they are a consultant
* Seek the views of families and carers where practicable when making decisions about patient care and discharge

Person Specification & Requirements
Essential
* Holds and uses a valid UK driving licence or provides alternative
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Fully GMC registered with licence to practise
* At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including 2 years in core psychiatry
* Good knowledge of the specialty and strong clinical skills with bio-psycho-social approach
* Good English oral and written communication skills
* Participated in continuous professional development
* Ability to use electronic records and IT tools
* Evidence of annual appraisal and commitment to appraisal/revalidation
Desirable
* MRCPsych or EU equivalent
* Postgraduate experience in the specialty
* Experience delivering undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and training; participation in audits or research
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 6 months of appointment
