Offer description

Rural Surveying Lead | Vacancy Reference: 59100 DM

This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship – the successful applicant will need to have a pre‑existing Right to Work in the UK to be offered an employment contract.

We're on the lookout for a Rural Surveying Lead to take the reins in Shrewsbury. This is an opportunity to shape, grow and champion a rural offering in a region full of potential.

Job Role and Responsibilities

* Become the go‑to brain for all things rural surveying in the office
* Advise landowners, investors and institutions on how to make their land work smarter (and harder)

* Spot opportunities before they become obvious and turn them into business wins
* Deliver high‑quality client work alongside the team
* Mentor others and help grow the next generation of rural experts
* Keep one eye on compliance and the other on emerging policy and legislation
* Ensure the team runs efficiently, profitably and without unnecessary chaos
* Build a strong presence across Shropshire and beyond
* Grow networks with landowners, developers and key players in the rural space
* Use contacts and credibility to open and keep doors open
* Shape and evolve service offerings – this isn't a “follow the template” role
* Represent the business out in the wild (events, networking, industry circles)

Location

Shrewsbury – travelling to rural clients within the area is included.

Salary Guideline

£55,000 – £75,000 basic salary depending on skills and experience. Mileage paid + discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

* MRICS qualified (or equivalent) with solid rural experience
* A natural leader who people want to follow
* Commercially sharp – understands both land and numbers
* Deep knowledge of rural property, agriculture and sustainability
* Proven ability to grow a team, client base or reputation – ideally all three
* Strong relationship‑builder with a knack for winning trust
* Calm under pressure and adaptable when circumstances shift
* Tech and social media aware – even rural surveying needs a LinkedIn presence
* Full UK driving licence – the job is not location‑restricted

Benefits

* A genuinely supportive and down‑to‑earth team
* A salary that reflects experience
* Paid professional memberships and CPD support
* Private healthcare
* Employee wellbeing support (health plans and flu jabs)
* Flexible/agile working – life isn’t 9‑5 anymore
* 35 days holiday (including bank holidays) plus birthday off
* Extra holiday for long service – loyalty has perks
* Discretionary bonus potential
* Enhanced pension scheme
* Access to perks such as EV and Cycle‑to‑Work schemes
* A few additional benefits unlocked after probation
