Responsibilities
* Responsible for the production of food for the University’s busy hospitality outlets.
* Ensure all food is produced and presented to the standards set with the Executive Head Chef.
* Maintain clean and compliant production, service and storage areas with health and safety and food safety legislation.
* Assist in achieving revenue and gross profit margins for all food produced as outlined in the departmental budget.
* Maintain stock sheets with correct pricing and assist with periodic stock taking as directed.
* Ensure equipment is clean, hygienic and used only by trained staff; report faults promptly through the correct channels.
* Inform line manager of training needs to complete tasks; check weight, quality and temperature of goods in and ensure proper storage; verify invoices against delivery notes and purchase orders.
* Be an active and proactive member of the hospitality and kitchen teams, promoting high quality customer care and staff development.
* Undertake other duties as assigned commensurate with the role; be flexible to cover peak times and university events (evenings/weekends).

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate
* Catering qualification or equivalent experience
* Manual Handling qualification
* Previous catering experience in a kitchen environment
* Experience of working independently with high-volume food production
* Understanding of high-quality, freshly prepared food
* Ability to follow standard recipes and work unsupervised within set tasks
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level A0 or willingness to learn Welsh; bilingual environment awareness
Desirable
* Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate
* Chef de Partie experience or higher
* Experience supervising staff in a large kitchen team
* Oral and Written Welsh Level B1 or commitment to learn Welsh to this level
