The Opportunity
We’re supporting a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke automated systems across advanced manufacturing sectors.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of complex machinery and systems.
This opportunity is open to Junior Engineers and Graduates, as well as those with more experience.
You’ll be working on one-off, technically challenging projects, rather than repetitive designs, within a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the design and development of electrical systems for bespoke automation and machinery projects.
You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, working closely with mechanical, software and workshop teams to deliver high-quality, buildable solutions.
This is a hands-on, office-based role with strong interaction across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts
* Design electrical systems for automation and special purpose machinery
* Carry out electrical calculations (cable sizing, load, voltage drop, etc.)
* Select and specify electrical components (drives, motors, sensors, PLC-related hardware)
* Support machine safety design and compliance with relevant standards
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver practical design solutions
* Support build, integration, testing and commissioning activities
* Create and maintain technical documentation
* Adapt and improve designs for bespoke applications
What They’re Looking For
Electrical design experience within machinery or automation, with SolidWorks Electrical/AutoCAD Electrical skills and strong knowledge of control systems and panel design. Hands-on, problem-solving mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-paced project environments.

Package
* £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
* 30 days holiday including bank holidays (increasing with service)
* Pension and private healthcare
* 4.5-day working week (early finish Fridays)
