AIMS Project Support Officer (Fixed Term)

We are recruiting for a Project Support Officer (PSO) to join the AIMS Project team based at Dumfries and Galloway College, Crichton Campus.
As a Project Support Officer, your office-based and front-line role will be crucial in assisting the delivery of the AIMS Project through key administrative tasks.
Individuals are sought who:
1. Excel in maintaining a range of project information, including financial data, for easy retrieval and evaluation.
2. Are methodical in handling project enquiries and engaging with clients.
3. Can take initiative with effective communication to ensure timely data collection and reporting.
4. Enjoy sharing relevant information via social media to promote the work of the AIMS Project and related Employability Programmes.
You will work in a small team within innovative facilities equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, providing hands-on experience and skills. You will liaise with staff across the service to support registered clients in progressing their skills and with individuals from local businesses.
About the AIMS Project
The AIMS (Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland) project supports both businesses and individuals in Dumfries and Galloway. It is driven by Industry 4.0, focusing on automation of manufacturing using modern technology.
The team offers research and development, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing (including 3D printing, scanning, probing), subtractive manufacturing (CNC milling, turning, SolidCam), fabrication, robotic automation, and computer science. They also deliver practical, skills-based training, from introductory sessions to bespoke courses tailored to business needs, utilizing their equipment and expertise to boost the local economy.
Additional Details
Business Support: AIMS helps businesses innovate, develop, and introduce new products and services, including prototyping and process improvement. The team provides training on the latest engineering technologies such as CNC machining, 3D printing, and robotics, supporting all business sizes in the region.
Individual Skill Development: AIMS offers courses to upskill both businesses and individuals, working with adults and young people aged 19+, school leavers, job seekers, students, sole traders, and entrepreneurs. They aim to inspire and motivate individuals to acquire new skills and certifications, working closely with the Dumfries and Galloway Local Employability and Skills Partnership to signpost additional support.
A valid driving license is essential for this role; however, consideration will be given to alternatives if a disability precludes holding a license, provided suitable transport arrangements can be made.
This is a fixed-term position until March 2026.
The role may be suitable for secondment; applicants should seek approval from their line manager before applying.
