Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Radiographer with substantial experience in Interventional Radiology to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team working within Radiology at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The role will include rotation through the interventional suite, theatres and fluoroscopy. This is a part time position of 30 hours. Candidates will be expected to participate in our 24/7 interventional on-call rota which includes working some Bank Holidays.
This is a demanding role where excellent technical expertise in all aspects is required to ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient and professional service. The successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, performing radiographic examinations either single handed or as part of a team, whilst ensuring a high standard of radiographic technique and patient care is maintained at all times.
Role and Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise a team of Radiographers, Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Radiographic Assistants, organising staff and workflow to meet departmental and service needs.
* Perform radiographic examinations in General, Fluoroscopy and Interventional areas, single handed or as part of a team, maintaining high standards of radiographic technique and patient care.
* Review images and consider supplementary imaging procedures/views prior to patient departure from the department.
* Ensure a high standard of patient care, both clinical and pastoral, in line with best practice.
* Deputise with other Band 6 colleagues as required for Band 7 radiographers.
* Participate in the extended working day service (8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday) and work evenings; participate in the on-call system for the Interventional Service.
* Comply with IRR 2017 and IRMER 2017, ensuring radiation doses are kept as low as reasonably achievable in line with DRLs.
* Ensure the safety of patients and staff in all areas of the department and maintain general cleanliness and safe waste disposal.
* Lead with the Quality Assurance programme and participate in departmental audits when necessary.
* Administer contrast media as required, assess suitability and monitor patients post-injection for any adverse reactions.
* Maintain stocks of consumables and exercise personal responsibility to make decisions in unpredictable situations.
* Deliver services within the department's defined quality standards and proactively monitor and improve service delivery.
Requirements
* Significant experience in Interventional Radiology and Radiography.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to work across 24/7 shift patterns, including Bank Holidays and Interventional on-call duties.
* Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in unpredictable circumstances.
* Commitment to CPD and ongoing professional development; evidence of aiming to widen scope of practice.
