Operational Support Grade Role
This role is a key part of the day-to-day running of a busy prison. You will work as part of a supportive team, undertaking tasks that combine security and searches at the gate, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, monitoring phone calls and CCTV.
Key responsibilities include accompanying vehicles across the prison grounds, lifting and carrying items as required. This varied and active job involves a mix of desk duties and physical tasks.
The ideal candidate will be a good communicator with excellent judgement and common sense, able to remain calm under pressure. They will also be a great team player with good problem-solving skills.
You will work a variety of shifts, including weekend and night shifts, to ensure the smooth operation of the prison. As an Operational Support Grade, you will have significant knowledge and experience of how a prison operates. This can provide opportunities to move into other prison jobs, including the OSG to Prison Officer conversion scheme.
