Please note the employer for this position is not Wigan Council Bedford Hall Methodist Breaston Avenue Leigh WN7 3DJ Apprentice salary - subject to age of apprentice 32.5 hours per week, term time Inset days working 39 weeks per year. Temporary until Required for 1 st September 2025 TA Apprenticeship Level 3 salary 11.37 p/h term-time plus inset days 32.5 hours per week On successful completion of training the role will be reviewed. Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School has a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career as a Teaching Assistant. The position will involve the post holder completing an 18-month teaching assistant apprenticeship. Support will be given by the school in the form of shadowing & training and the apprentice will have a mentor to assist with the development within the role. This is an opportunity to develop a variety of skills and enjoy being part of a friendly and professional team. You will have excellent numeracy and literacy and be expected to achieve GCSE level/functional skills equivalent to grade C or above) if not already obtained during the apprenticeship. You should be highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and be a good team player, but also be able to work on your own initiative. You will be an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable individual who demonstrates good organisation skills and a keen willingness to learn. After completing training, we would expect you to be able to complete all tasks in the supplied job descriptions. Once training is successfully completed, the post-holder will be offered a role within the Trust, however hours may vary depending on need. What will I learn? To supervise and provide support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities. To establish constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers and interact with them according to individual needs. To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils. To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher. To provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher. To create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils work. To assist with the planning of learning activities. To monitor pupils responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed. To provide regular feedback to teachers on pupils achievement, progress and challenges. To promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour. To provide clerical/admin support, for example photocopying, collection of money, displays. To assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and lunch cover as may be reasonably directed. To accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher as may be reasonably directed.
