Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Edinburgh
Rate:£40 PH
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst to support our IT asset management efforts. This entry-level contractor role focuses on software license tracking, data quality, and supporting license renewals. You will work closely with the SAM team and procurement to help ensure our software assets are accurately documented and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
* License Tracking: Maintain accurate records of software licenses, including purchases, entitlements, deployments, and renewals.
* Renewal Support: Assist in preparing renewal documentation, compiling usage data, and tracking key renewal dates.
* Data Entry & Reporting: Input and update license/usage data in SAM tools and generate compliance and audit reports.
* Vendor & Procurement Support: Liaise with procurement teams and vendors to confirm licensing details, obtain quotes, and support renewal activities.
* Process Support: Handle internal queries related to software licensing and support daily SAM operations.
Essential Skills
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks independently.
Desirable Skills
* Understanding of software licensing models (per-user, per-device, subscription, perpetual).
* Experience with SAP or exposure to SAM tools (Flexera, ServiceNow, Snow).
* Team-oriented mindset and strong time management skills.
