We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Development Scrutiny Officer to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.
You could be working on our newbuild programme across our geography, but we can be flexible on your base location, with offices in Basingstoke, Bristol, Hurn, Exeter and Newbury. There will be travel required between our offices and to regular site meetings, so you should have access to transport and be happy to travel.
The role will combine both home, site based and office working to ensure a positive work/life balance.
The Role
Our vison it to ensure that everyone lives in a great home. Our customer, home & place and asset strategies are clear as to what this means for the business and our customers - a greater number of homes being built, and significant activity aligned to making sure we provide the right homes for our customers.
Your role is to represent our current and future customers, and our customer facing teams (Customer and Neighbourhoods, Property, Communities etc) throughout the development process.
Key responsibilities:
* You'll lead on the stakeholder review of proposed new developments and regeneration opportunities, ensuring they meet the aspirations of our home and place standard, designed to provide quality homes and places, creating thriving, sustainable communities where people want to live.
* Work closely with our Development Teams to understand proposed new developments
* Investigate and consider local intelligence (internally and externally) to fully understand the benefits, impacts and risks of any given proposal
* Positively influence the type, design, layout and quality of our new homes and communities with a customer lens, in line with our home and place strategy
* Arrange and participate in site visits to gain knowledge and understanding of our new homes and places. This is in order to support customer and internal colleagues to understand the scheme, its characteristics and location
* Develop and produce useful information on new homes and neighbourhoods for customers and stakeholders
* Act as a key contact point for customer facing teams throughout the development process, from pre contract through to customer occupation
* Link up stakeholders across the business in order to optimise benefits to our customers
What we're looking for
This position would suit candidates who have previous experience in housing management and/or those with experience of development standards and processes.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Able to manage the expectations of a variety of different stakeholders.
* Influence with authority when liaising with all appropriate stakeholders at various levels
* Present proposals confidently in formal and informal settings
* Able to be assertive and a good negotiator.
* Exhibit operational thinking and values driven behaviours to fulfil our ambitious corporate plan and customer impact, asset and home & place strategies at a locality level.
* Work well within a small team and on your own initiative.
* Good understanding across Microsoft and other IT systems.
