Lancashire Hospitals Services are delighted to be able to offer vacancies for the position of a Branch Manager to cover our Outpatient Pharmacy Sites at the Royal Blackburn Hospital site.

It is an exciting time to join the team after we have recently expanded our services to now providing outpatient pharmacy services to:-

1. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
2. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust
3. East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust
4. Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS trust

This means that you will be supported in your role by other branch managers, our Operations Manager and Superintendent Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

1) To be responsible for the effective operation of your allocated branch.

2) To manage a high functioning team

3) To work in collaboration with the other branch managers.

4) To ensure that company KPIs are met.

Working for our organisation

Lancashire Hospitals Services Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We provide Outpatient dispensing services at Royal Preston Hospital, Rosemere Centre (within Royal Preston Hospital), Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital, Furness General Hospital, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Duties to include but not limited to:

5. Acting as a role model for the team.
6. Promoting and upholding a positive culture.
7. Rota Management including responding to absences.
8. Investigating incidents and complaints.
9. Line management of staff in accordance with company policies and procedure.
10. Managing attendance, conduct and performance.
11. Coordinating day to day activities for the team.
12. Conducting 121s and Appraisals.
13. Ensuring that training compliance is up to date.
14. Acting as a key holder for the branches.
15. Ensuring that drug recalls are actioned within the recommended timeframe.
16. Training and assessing competencies of new and existing team members.
17. Ensuring compliance with ethical, professional, legal and GPhC Pharmacy Standards.
18. Ensuring company KPIs are met and where applicable, improve team performance to achieve. This includes near misses, interventions, and turn-around times.
19. Acting as a point of contact and responding to queries raised from both internal and external colleagues.
20. Ensuring accurate completion of weekly CD balance checks.

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

21. MPharm or equivalent and registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacist OR recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification and registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician OR Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff or equivalent GPhC recognised qualification

Desirable criteria

22. Post-Graduate Leadership and Management Development qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

23. Knowledge of all core pharmacy tasks including dispensing, accuracy checking, ordering and receipt of medicines
24. Specialist Technical knowledge of Good Dispensing Practice
25. Knowledge of medicines regulation, legislation and clinical governance
26. Ability to develop and deliver training to others
27. Evidence of service development
28. Experience in audit and service evaluation

Desirable criteria

29. Knowledge and practical experience in a pharmacy management/leadership role.
30. Knowledge of HR policies and legislation
31. Project Management experience
