Overview
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting, innovative, mainly flood risk related projects. The role will primarily focus on our Lincolnshire Coastal Protection Programme initially. This role sits in Projects & Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a senior position within integrated project teams, taking responsibility for project delivery as the Client project manager or as project executive. You will manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, construction and handover. You will work with a wide range of internal and external team members and build a high‑performing environment with suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and partners. You will apply strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, establish effective relationships, and facilitate collaborative and efficient ways of working. You will make key project decisions informed by technical leads while following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation. A resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding is crucial. The role will require regular travel to project and coastal sites, regular office collocation and attendance at meetings in various offices. All new joiners undertake required training and participate in incident response duties as part of working for the Environment Agency. Responsibilities
* Deliver projects from planning to handover as part of the Client project manager or project executive role within the PPD.
* Lead the project delivery process with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and partners.
* Apply commercial, contract and risk management skills to establish effective governance and collaborative working practices.
* Make key project decisions informed by technical leads, in line with governance, assurance and legislation.
* Develop and maintain a resilient network of stakeholders (statutory authorities, landowners, local communities) to negotiate agreements, consents and external funding.
* Travel to project and coastal sites and participate in meetings across various offices.
* Complete required training and participate in incident response duties as part of Environment Agency responsibilities.
Qualifications
* A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline. Ideally with chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP.
* High level of experience in project and/or contract management is desirable.
* Technical expertise covering feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.
* Extensive experience in programme management, project delivery and contract management, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
* Project Executive role experience would be beneficial.
