As a Communications and Marketing Officer forBiddulph Grange Garden and Shugborough Estate, you'll be responsible for letting people know about the place, and how they can visit.
What it's like to work here
You'll be working with teams at Biddulph Grange Garden and Shugborough Estate sharing their stories on social media, the website and with the press. Reporting to the Visitor Experience Manager, you'll work in a team of Visitor Experience Officers, Programming Assistant and the House and Collection staff for both properties. You'll be additionally supported by regional marcomms professionals.
Biddulph Grange Garden is a horticultural masterpiece and the first ever compartment garden with tunnels, narrow paths, sculptures and a fascinating Geolgocial Gallery. The National Trust have owned the garden since 1988 and there has been a continuous programme of restoration ever since.
Shugborough estate was the former home of the Lords of Lichfield and comprises acres of parkland, a model farm, mansion house, walled garden and due to open this year 2 acres of forest garden. Both properties are grade 1 listed landscapes.
What you'll be doing
We have an annual plan covering communications and marketing, and your role from will be to achieve what’s on that plan. We have some ambitious targets that you’ll be aiming at, including reaching new and diverse audiences, so there’s room for creativity and fresh ideas. Your day-to-day work will cover things like creating new content on our web pages, and making sure that existing information remains relevant and accurate, running social media accounts, creating promotional materials and writing and distributing press releases. You'll be working closely with your colleagues on site and the Trusts regional advisers, known as consultants. You'll be part of a team making sure that we're sharing the best stories we can, with a focus on spreading the word about places to visit and letting people know about the Trust’s conservation work.
Who we're looking for
To deliver this role successfully, you'll need:
1. familiar and confident with various marketing techniques, including digital and social media
2. experienced in writing and speaking clearly
3. someone who puts people first, and understands why great customer service matters
4. skilled in working with IT (including Microsoft Office)
5. good at solving problems, and able to work on your own initiative
