Overview

As Manager External Affairs, NAM you will be part of the Global Marketing and Comms Organization and will be responsible for representing ABB E mobility’s interests in the political and regulatory discussions with the key Institutions in the US and Canada. You will liaise regularly with the public administrations and regulators and will coordinate ABB E mobility’s interest representation in the region.
This position will be based in Washington, DC
Target Salary Range: $160,000-$175,000 + 15% Target bonus
Responsibilities
In this role your main accountabilities will be:
* Partner with senior leaders to shape ABB E-mobility’s public affairs strategy and amplify our influence in the dynamic EV and clean energy ecosystem.
* Own and drive a forward-looking regulatory roadmap that connects technology, policy, and business outcomes.
* Lead and inspire a diverse team of engineers, managers, and communication professionals to shape regulatory frameworks that accelerate clean energy adoption and deliver sustainable social and environmental impact at scale.
* Stay ahead of policy and market shifts, turning emerging regulatory trends into opportunities to position ABB E-mobility as a trusted industry leader.
* Represent ABB E-mobility in trade associations, standards bodies, and industry forum to ensure our voice shapes the future of electrification.
* Develop and deliver clear, compelling policy positions and technical insights that strengthen ABB E-mobility’s credibility and influence with decision-makers.
Qualifications
To make the above work, we need a policy leader with:
* Passionate about technology and its ability to improve society.
* Bachelor’s degree in related study and 8+ years of experience in industry or association leading a product, communication or PR organizations.
* Experience working with trade/ industry associations and external stakeholders in more than one country.
* Experience in executing multiple initiatives and priorities concurrently.
* Ability to create, articulate and drive policy related matters.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree in a related field (public affairs, legal, communication) or equivalent practical experience.
* Experience in managing Business-to-Business (B2B) and consumer products with a sustainability component.
* Experience in influencing executive stakeholders and driving organization-wide measurable results.
* Entrepreneurial and out of the box thinker in solving problems.
* Experience in partnering with public and private sector customers.
* Ability to exemplify ABB E mobility’s values in diversity and respect and build a safe, inclusive, and representative organization that enables us to serve all people around the world.
* Ability to bring disparate perspectives and personalities together to navigate complex and rapidly shifting competitive environments.
