About the Role as a SEN Teacher
Academics are currently recruiting a dedicated and adaptable SEN Teacher to work within a special school setting in Halifax. This role is ideal for an experienced SEN professional who is passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs and is seeking flexible teaching opportunities within a supportive environment.
You will be working with children and young people with a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, MLD, and complex learning difficulties, delivering engaging and structured lessons that meet individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teacher
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with additional needs
Support and implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Create a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Manage behaviour positively using trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff
Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff and Academics consultants
Promote pupil wellbeing, engagement, and independenceThe Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
Experience working in a special school or SEN setting
Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills
Flexibility, resilience, and a nurturing approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
