Role Description
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented R&D Chemist to join our materials development team focused on ceramic matrix composites (CMCs). In this role, you will lead the design, formulation and optimisation of new ceramic and polymer precursor systems to enhance the thermal, mechanical and chemical properties of advanced composites for high-performance applications.
Responsibilities
* Develop and formulate new ceramic matrix and precursor systems tailored for CMC applications.
* Conduct laboratory synthesis, characterization and testing of raw materials and final composite systems.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including materials scientists and process engineers to scale formulations from lab to pilot production.
* Analyse data and provide technical reports and recommendations for product development.
* Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in ceramic materials and composite manufacturing.
Your Skills
Essential
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
* Practical laboratory experience in ceramic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or high-temperature materials.
* Familiarity with analytical and characterisation techniques such as TGA, DSC, XRD, SEM, or FTIR.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and experimental design skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative R&D environment.
Desirable
* Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
* Experience with ceramic matrix composites, sol-gel processing, precursor-derived ceramics, or advanced composite materials.
* Experience supporting scale-up from laboratory to pilot or production environments.
* Knowledge of high-temperature processing or advanced materials applications.
* Training in laboratory safety and chemical handling procedures.
