Job Role: Engineer - Combustion

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time, 39 hours/week
We are seeking a dedicated Engineer – Combustion to join our team at HMP Lewes, a CATEGORY & Male Adult prison. Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
HMP Lewes operates like a self-contained town, requiring hundreds of staff to function. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, we are committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
As an Engineer – Combustion, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

We are a Ministry of Justice business providing critical services to HMPPS. The ideal candidate will have:
1. At least two years of experience as a heating or combustion engineer or equivalent
2. Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
3. Knowledge of Gas Safe (installation and use) regulations 1998 and industry standards
4. Experience with commercial catering gas appliances (beneficial)
5. Plumber qualification to C&G 6035, C&G 6189, NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
6. CCN1 - Core domestic gas safety certification
7. COCN1 - Core commercial gas safety certification
8. Good health & safety knowledge
9. Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills
