Are you a detail driven payroll professional looking to take ownership of end to end payroll and employee expenses in a dynamic, growing business? Do you want to work in-house while still collaborating with a 3 rd party payroll provider? If so, Saltus is looking for you!

We’re on the hunt for a proactive and meticulous Payroll Associate to manage our internal payroll operations and oversee employee expense claims. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll delivery, HMRC compliance, and a seamless experience for our employees, while liaising closely with our external payroll provider. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys working collaboratively across teams, and wants to build a long term payroll career in-house.

Saltus is a privately owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.

Saltus Partners was founded in 2004 and has grown organically and through a small number of carefully integrated acquisitions. Originally the business started out as an investment manager and has now developed the financial planning side of the offering, putting this at the forefront of the client relationship.

Today Saltus manages and advises on over £8 billion of client assets, acquired through a combination of organic business growth and corporate acquisitions.


What does this role look like?

* Act as the primary internal point of contact for payroll matters
* Liaise with our 3 rd party payroll provider to ensure timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll
* Collate, review, and submit payroll data (e.g. starters, leavers, bonuses, benefits, deductions)
* Carry out pre- and post-payroll checks to ensure data accuracy
* Support year-end payroll tasks including P60s, P11Ds, and benefits reporting
* Maintain and update internal payroll records, ensuring GDPR compliance
* Assist with pensions administration and auto-enrolment duties
* Manage the employee expenses process, ensuring claims are submitted and approved in line with company policy
* Review, reconcile, and approve expenses for payroll or reimbursement
* Provide guidance to employees on expense policies and procedures
* Respond to employee payroll and expense queries promptly and professionally
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and statutory reporting requirements, including Gender Pay Gap reporting
* Work closely with the People and Finance teams to ensure accurate records and integration across systems
* Be a subject matter expert on payroll for any subsidiary firms acquired through M&A, and lead the process for onboarding onto group payroll.


What sort of person are you looking for?

* Previous experience in a payroll role
* Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong numerical and Excel skills
* Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
* CIPP qualification or working towards it
* Experience working with a third-party payroll provider
* Experience with HRIS or payroll software (e.g. Sage, ADP, etc.)
* Experience in a financial or professional services environment


Where will I be working?

We are looking for someone to be based out of our Whiteley office, and offer hybrid working, which includes 2 days in the office, with the remainder at home. We’re incredibly flexible about when and how you work: we don’t want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they’re looking for. What benefits do I get when working for Saltus?

The salary is between £30-35,000pa depending on experience, alongside 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), life assurance, income protection and a pension, alongside access to our flexible benefits platform. The role is 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8.30-5.30pm.
