Part-Time SEND Teacher – Autism Specialist Provision
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne area
Salary: £161–£251 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Part-Time (2–3 days per week), Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a qualified teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Autism? We’re working with a well-established specialist school in the Newcastle area that caters exclusively to children and young people aged 3 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This outstanding provision operates across multiple sites and offers a supportive, structured environment with a focus on communication, emotional regulation, and preparing pupils for adulthood. The school is part of a respected trust and has recently been rated Good by Ofsted.
We are looking for a dedicated and flexible part-time Teacher to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet individual EHCP outcomes and support sensory and communication needs
2. Foster a safe, predictable, and supportive classroom environment
3. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral teams
4. Use a range of autism-specific strategies (such as PECS, TEACCH, or SCERTS)
5. Track and celebrate progress across academic, emotional, and life skills
Who we’re looking for:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
7. Experience teaching pupils with ASC or other SEND (or a strong interest in developing this)
8. A calm, adaptable, and nurturing approach to teaching
9. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and staff
10. Commitment to inclusive, person-centred education
